Glazing on the 15,000-seat Intrust Bank Arena in downtown Wichita, Kan. began in October 2008. ITI Glass worked with Wickham Glass to furnish glass and spandrel products for the arena, which is slated to open in January 2010.

February 2009
Large portion of exterior glazing work was complete in February 2009.

The Intrust Bank Arena is glazed with Solarban® z50 over clear glass, a product developed by PPG Industries that combines high levels of visible light transmittance with minimal solar-heat gain in a neutral gray low-e glass.

Before ITI Glass began to furnish heat-strengthened glass for the arena’s exterior curtain walls, the company implemented an improved heat-treating process. The new process greatly reduced visible roll-wave distortion, a natural effect of heat-treating glass. With the new production method in place, ITI Glass delivered heat-strengthened glass with superior visual quality for the arena.

In charge of the arena’s construction is Dondlinger/Hunt, a joint venture between two construction firms: local general contractor Dondlinger and Sons Construction, and Scottsdale, Ariz.-based Hunt Construction Group. Hunt’s construction portfolio includes several sporting venues in the United States. The company recently completed a renovation of Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City, Mo. and is currently building a new NFL stadium in Indianapolis.
