The Intrust Bank Arena is glazed with Solarban® z50 over clear glass, a product developed by PPG Industries that combines high levels of visible light transmittance with minimal solar-heat gain in a neutral gray low-e glass. Before ITI Glass began to furnish heat-strengthened glass for the arena’s exterior curtain walls, the company implemented an improved heat-treating process. The new process greatly reduced visible roll-wave distortion, a natural effect of heat-treating glass. With the new production method in place, ITI Glass delivered heat-strengthened glass with superior visual quality for the arena. In charge of the arena’s construction is Dondlinger/Hunt, a joint venture between two construction firms: local general contractor Dondlinger and Sons Construction, and Scottsdale, Ariz.-based Hunt Construction Group. Hunt’s construction portfolio includes several sporting venues in the United States. The company recently completed a renovation of Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City, Mo. and is currently building a new NFL stadium in Indianapolis. WP-1008 |
